*cues the theme to "My name is earl"*
Ever have one of those weeks where nothing seems to go right, and when it does you are in a state of amazement? This is how my week was...
After giving up on getting the blazer started, I contacted Enterprise and rented a 2006 Chevy Cobalt, hit the bank, and gassed up at the speedway in Catlettsburg (The hot donna lookalike was working there), and hit 23 to Columbus. I got to cross the new bridge at Portsmouth (after about 6 or 7 years or so). I got to Columbus in time to have dinner with
puck_nut,
weaselwv, and Jim at Champs. It was a pretty decent place. I had reuban that was almost as good as one of the one's I'd make. Then it was off to Schottenstein Center for the show. The Robert Cray (no relation) band took the stage at 7:30. Simply incredible. Great guitar playing and vocals. According to Pollstar he's scheduled to play in Charleston for "Blues,Brews, and BBQ" in June.
Clapton and his band were just amazing. I was really hoping Derek Trucks would have been with the band, but he was at the Beacon with The Allman Brothers.
( The setlist pretty much says it all ) I'd liked to have heard "The Core", and "Bell Bottom Blues", but overall I was happy with the set.
I hit the road back to Kentucky at about 11:30, stopping off at White Castle for some sliders (just so I could text
sharkbait and rub it in that I was having some yummy burgers), and also at the Speedway at Waverly for coffee. I got back here at about 2 AM. I hit Bob Evans for steak and eggs this morning, picked up a cigar, and a 6 pack of Samuel Adams Dopplebock, came back napped, now it's laundry time!
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes.
Now it's time to go to Walmart! wheee!!
