About an hour before I got to the bridge there was a fatality. I didnt hear about the accident until I checked my email this morning and read a comment from [livejournal.com profile] gatesofdelirium. The accident occured at about 11:45 and I was parked at 12:38, and by the time I'd walked to the Bridge, browsed through the merchandise area and actually got on the bridge jumping had resumed. The merchandise area was very interesting. Southern Xposure, a local Gentleman's Club was selling bottled water, and shirts to benefit a local homeless center. The Tiedyed Shirt lady from H-ton Mall ([livejournal.com profile] sharkbait knows who I'm talking about), was set up next to the Jehovah's Witnesses. I found that entertaining. I got a cup of hot chocolate and picked up something from Lost World Caverns, then hit the bridge itself. Kind of an uneventful walk across the bridge. I made a few stops to take some pictures and walked back across the bridge and back to the blazer.

Pics Behind Cut ) including some of a custom motorcyle that is being raffled off.

After leaving the bridge I stopped off to see a friend in Oak Hill, after about an hour or so of getting caught up, I headed back to KY, via Rt 61 through Deepwater, and Montgomery!

I bought a lottery ticket, got a sandwich from Subway and came back here to play Civ IV for a while before going to bed. This morning I went through the usual routine of breakfast at Bob Evans, shopping, and now I've got a roast and hopefully it'll be good to go in time for the Martinsville Race. Tomorrow after work I'm making a Mall Run, and maybe heading to Lewisburg that evening and hanging out in the old hometown for a bit since I've got a 1 day work week next week. Look Out World!!!

Oh and in other news, I cashed in my Speedway Points for a $100 speedway card, and also got a free coffee from Starbucks because they had run out of the coffee I'd ordered. All in all a pretty good day!

Roast is done, and a High School Band from Martinsville, VA just performed the National Anthem before the race. Great to see that instead of some wannabe hack butchering it.

Time to go grab some roast and assume the official race watching position.

***EDIT****

YAY!! Ward Burton is racing today!!!!!!!

Hope they interview him!

I really like the Martinsville VA race, I can eat, watch part of the race, nap, run some errands, eat again, nap, and then watch the end of the race. It was good to see Ward Burton racing again, hopefully he'll be back full time next season, I really miss interviews with him, even though I'll have to dig out my "Ward Burton/English" translation guide, but I do remember that "Pet Crow" translates into "Pit Crew".

During the race I made a Mall run, picked up a few items including the dreaded long underwear for the upcoming winter season. Noooooo

Time to do some domestic stuff around the house and get ready for a short work week!
