What a long strange trip it has been..
Nov. 24th, 2004 07:28 pmActually that's quite the understatment After going through security and all that fun stuff, I started noticing the people around my gate. First off, I heard the all to familiar Godfather voice, looking around I see three elderly gentlemen having a discussion, great, they're going to make me an offer I can't refuse. There was also this guy was was pretty FUBAR, he vanished before boarding on the aircraft so I didn't have to worry about having him sit next to me. I boarded the plane and was seated next to a psychology professor from whatever school is in Athens GA. I'm sure that I was the subject of her Monday morning lecture.
After landing in Atlanta a bit late, I was doing the OJ Simpson airport sprint to get on the train to the concourse I needed to get to, I made the train, and sprinted to my gate. Boarding was a bit late, but I finally got on, only to be delayed and then "deplaned". There was a blanket of fog over the airport in Charleston , with only 1/4 mile visibility. I found it humorous to note that a candidate for Gov in WV was also stranded. Delta's policy is that they will only spring for a hotel room if it's a mechanical problem, and my flight was at 6 AM, so I opted to find a chair and snooze for a bit, before slumber, I went to the Wendy's and got a burger, it wasn't too bad, but there was something unidentifiable on it. The only thing I could figure was it was a Tomato. I laid down but I only snoozed for a bit since the airport had a small army of electricians running wires. I woke up bright and early and started looking for coffee. I was in the only concourse without a starbucks, but we had "Atlanta Baking Company", so I got a coffee and a pastry. My flight was to Cinci and then to Charleston. Everything went pretty smoothly after getting out of Atlanta. We were put into a holding pattern over Charleston until the fog burned off a bit, but the landing was smooth and I was on my way back to The Ranch.
