Jul. 4th, 2004 05:30 pmFirst off, Happy Independance Day to everyone out there! If any of you happens to hear anyone say "Hey Y'all Watch This!!" today, duck and cover!
Last night I had dinner with
sharkbait, Luna, Angie,
admackbar, and Mariann at Ruby Tuesdays, then it was back home to catch what I thought would be the race a bit late. There was a rain delay so I got to see the start, and about 50 laps before I went to bed, I couldn't sleep because of the army of Frogs in my backyard, so It was back online and on IRC for a bit.
I went to bed, and ended up sleeping in until about 7 this morning, I had breakfast at Bob Evans, got a coffee at Starbucks and headed to Ripley for the Mountain State Arts and Crafts Fair, unfortunately Robin wasn't playing up there today, so I wandered around looking at exhibits, talking myself out of buying some incredible looking wooden boxes (if only the guy had made humidors!), and checking out the Three Rivers Avian Center's bird display. They take birds that are unable to return to the wild due to injuries and take them to events and schools to educate people about the species. I talked to them about the hawks in the backyard and from my description, they are "Red Shouldered Hawks" instead of "Red Tailed Hawks". They had a Red Tailed Hawk, a Barn Own, a Broad Winged Hawk, and an adorable screech owl. The direrctor was saying that they have a Golden Eagle, but they can't get thru all the loopholes to get the permit to take it to events. It's a great organization, I'm going to try to go to one of their open houses one of these days.
I grabbed a Cheese Steak Sandwich and a Latte' for lunch then had a deep fried twinkie (I had to try it out of morbid curiosity), then I made a few purchases, some Bay Rum soap, and some books, including a book on Haunted WV, and an autographed copy of "Way Out in West Virginia", a book of oddball off the beaten path touristy stuff in WV.
On the way back to the ranch I stopped at Target and got some swimwear that fits, then it was The China Wok for dinner.
I'm off to catch a nap for a bit and then who knows?
