the first official day of the conference
Jun. 19th, 2008 06:35 pmThis morning's session of judging went well, The table I was stewarding was judging Smoke Flavored and Wood Aged beers. I don't know if I can develop a taste for smoke flavoring in beer, some were just a tad too smokey. I did like the "Imperial American Amber Aged with Rum Soaked Oak" though. I didn't realize it at the time but one of the judges at the table had written a book that I bought recently, and another author was judging at the table behind me. That says a lot about the qualifications of the judges for this event.
After lunch I went to the Hospitality Suite and stayed too long to make it to the seminar on Hop Substitution that was going on, which is probably a good thing since the speaker looked a lot like Samuel L. Jackson. I can imagine him saying "That's It!! I have had it with this Muthafuckin shortage of these Muthafuckin Hops!"
I signed up for a couple of drawings, and picked up a sample of sanitzer and some barley seeds so I can grow my own.
To celebrate me becoming a barley farmer, here's this youtube find.
oh! I had dinner here today. The sides rock! and while out and about I found Costco, and Chuck E. Cheese. So.... Take a guess as to what song is stuck in my head now.
