Time to recover from the road trip, pack away the seashell bra, grass skirt, return the unsmoked cigars to the humidor, put the porn movies back in their hiding place, do damage assessment from eating a normal diet for the past few days, trade in my birkenstock sandals for a pair of chippewa lineman's boots, and get back to to the grind.  But first  Coffee and some ramblings!

I made a pre-dawn commando style raid on walmart this morning,  I was out of coffee!  While on the raid this song by Little Feat was cued up on CD.

Bill's River Blues
Bill Payne, Paul Barrere
Once moved mountains
Now in the rear view mirror
Divine compromise has taken root
Hand held and guided
To each destination
Robbed of my powers but not of my mind
What’s left behind is left behind

The promise in your eyes
Is what I remember
Forbidden yet so tempting
Oh I surrender
The knock on the door had us
Jumpin’ out of our skins
I couldn’t take it anymore
What’s left behind is left behind

There’s a light upon the river
From the new moon in the east
It shines way down the valley
And gives me peace
It’s the light and the river
They give me peace

The winds that blow
All around here are constant
Up from the south they blow warm and strong
Last year they blew off
My neighbor’s roof
It’s still layin’ in that old open field
What’s left behind is left behind

There’s a light upon the river
From the new moon in the east
It shines way down the valley
And gives me peace
It’s the light and the river
They give me peace

There’s a graveyard
In the mountain
Covered in snow
The stones lie there in silence
Beneath the ground
Chalk white bones
The souls circle the sun
They play with the moon
Live amongst the stars
Their reflections on the river
Are gifts to your heart

You have those days
When the truth be told
S’like rollin’ and stumblin’
Fallin’ down a old gopher hole
Storm overhead lets loose its
Hail and lightning
Weathered and worn torn and afraid
And what’s left behind
Is left behind

There’s a light upon the river
From the new moon in the east
It shines way down the valley
And gives me peace
It’s the light and the river
They give me peace

It's one of those songs I can't hear enough times.  I really dig the lyrics, plus the simple arrangement of Piano/Guitar/Fiddle is really pretty.

I've been delving a bit into the I Ching lately.  I picked up the book ages ago when I was studying Kung Fu, but didn't read much into it other than casually browsing what the hexagrams mean.  Lately I've been making some readings on a couple of areas in my life that are a bit cloudy at the time.  I should stay on the course I'm on now, but be patient, reach a decision, avoid all negative thoughts, and  give wisely and I'll have joy and gladness.

For [livejournal.com profile] sharkbait and [livejournal.com profile] puck_nut, a Warren Haynes/Jimmy Buffett connection.  Both have recorded covers of songs by Jesse Winchester

I guess it's time to get ready for a day of fun and adventure at work today.  Whee!!!
