Hockey/Beer weekend was a blast. We gathered up at Priscilla's around 11:30ish or so, then headed to Meijers and to CiP for Lunch, then it was check in time at the hotel, followed by some drinks, and a walk to Barley's for some food and beer, but since the place was packed we just had some drinks and then it was gametime! It was a 4-3 win over the Wild, followed by a couple of beers at Ted's Montana Grill, and a coupla more beers at Barley's, this time with food. After Kraut balls, nachos, and a brewer's platter were consumed, it was stagggering and stumbling back to the hotel, to get ready for day 2.

It was kinda rough sleeping in the hotel since it was invaded by church youth groups who spent Friday night prowling around in large packs around the bars telling drunks to "smile, Jesus loves you", and also running the halls and cruising around on elevators at all hours of the night.

Day 2 was some shopping, lunch with [livejournal.com profile] chaptal, back to the hotel to rest up before the next game, and then onto Mongolian BBQ for dinner, with the full game going entourage for the night and also relocated WV-ian Jim. Then it was off to the Arena! The Ref for the evening was , I know this because of the guys a few rows down making fun of his perfect hair. It was a pretty good game, even though Denis was making me very nervous in the net. After witnessing another 4-3 win, it was back to the hotel for some TV, and sleep.

The next day it was some last minute shopping, and driving back with some pretty gnarly crosswinds. All in all it was a great weekend.

Now it's
Paradise

When I was a child my family would travel
Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born
And there's a backwards old town that's often remembered
So many times that my memories are worn.

Chorus:
And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking
Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away

Well, sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill.

Repeat Chorus:

Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man.

Repeat Chorus:

When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin'
Just five miles away from wherever I am.

That's about all for this morning, gotta get my game face on for a day of fun and adventure at work, wheee....
