Time to start easing back into reality after the road trip, .

We headed out in convoy fairly early Wednsday AM, arriving at Cinci in time to hit the party source, I picked up various beers and a CAO Italia Cigar for the traditional parking lot smoke. Then [livejournal.com profile] sharkbait, [livejournal.com profile] whiskeyjenny, Josh, and myself headed to The Rock Bottom for lunch and a beer. We were joined by Linda, who was unable to go to the show this year. After consideration, I opted for the Monte cristo, quite possibly the most unhealthy sandwich ever invented, it was a great sandwich, and their slaw was great. Unfortunately they didn't have the Beer and Cheese taster that [livejournal.com profile] sharkbait , maybe next time. After lunch it was off to the RRI to check in and to sample some of the beers we'd picked up, and to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] dizzdvl and CB who traveled to Cinci to hang out for the weekend. We called a cab to take us to CIP, drank while waiting, got tired of waiting and called another cab. Sometime in between this Mom called to let me know that my cousin had given birth, and that I am the Godfather.

The other cab company responded a bit quicker with a driver that was bordering on scary, both groups of us agreed (it took two trips since we'd picked up a couple of more recruits. We met up with [livejournal.com profile] constance1010 who arrived a tad earlier, and proceeded to eat, drink and be merry. I had the El Cubano, the cuban sandwich, with a side of sweet potato chips and a few glasses of Island Ale (YUM!!). We headed back to the RRI when [livejournal.com profile] puck_nut, Dale, [livejournal.com profile] sharktiger71, and [livejournal.com profile] ratherberidin12 showed up.

Thursday was the day of the show, so we got our ducks in a row, headed out to Riverbend, and set up. I bought a ticket from someone selling them at the gate, so all was good. We met up with some folks we'd met last year, and it was early enough in the day to remember to exchange email addresses. He gave us a few pointers for dining in the Arena District, which came in handy on Friday's leg of the trip. We hung out at the lot, broke down the tailgate, and headed over to the ampitheatre. Jimmy's show more than made up for last year's show, and I loved the Werewolves of London Cover.. AHhh Whooooooo!!!!. Here's the setlist

and yes, you did read that right, Fingers Taylor played on Fins, also present for the evening was Louisiana Slide Guitar master, Sonny Landreth.

We bugged out before the encore was over and headed back to the hotel to hang out and watch COPs, nope not on fox, but live and in person. There was a sobriety check and someone got pulled over at the Speedway in front of the RRI.

Friday we headed to Columbus, did a bit of shopping, then checked in to yet another RRI, had a few drinks and headed to the LC Pavilion, the original plan was to have lunch/dinner or whatever at Fat Eddies next to the venue, but that fell through, so we went to The Red Star Tavern in the arena district, which was very highly recommended to us by Bill from the Lot at Cinci. I, like, had a burger, with like fries, and like a couple of ya know Samuel Like Adams lagers. Then we ventured back to the arena, to get in line for the show. We got in, and took our place on the rail. Umphrey's McGee started playing and made me long for the days when the opening band played for 30 minutes and left. They played for about 2 excrutiating hours. They are very talented musicans, but don't do anything for me. and their fans... uhhh... I wish they'd take the money they save from not bathing or washing their hair and take some dance lessons sheesh.

Mule started off strong, but after two hours of noodling from UM, I wasn't really in the groove to listen to jamming, yes folks you read that right.
Here's the setlist for that show

Sugaree with Brendan Bayliss & Joel Cummins

I coulda done without "All Along the Watchtower", it seemed to really drag on. I liked hearing Warren sing on "Sugaree", and will probably download the song when it surfaces, but it won't be in heavy rotation.

After mule we went to Barley's for a late night snack, I had their offering for Firkin Friday, which tasted similar to my nearly award winning Phil's Noir Part Deux, then it was back to RRI to rest up for the return journey, which included stops at Einstien Brothers Bagels (Two Thumbs Up!), and the traditional White Castle slider stop.

Upon the return home I found that my CD of "Gimme Back My Bullets" had arrived, and was a special deluxe edition with a DVD.

Now the catch up part of this.
