How it is


Here's a little trap
That sometimes catches everyone
When today's as far as we can see

Giving way to resignation

Frozen in the moment...
The lack of imagination
Between how it is and how it ought to be

Here's a little trap
That sometimes trips up everyone
When we tire of our own company
Sometimes we're the last to see beyond the day's frustrations
That's how it is
How it's going to be

It's such a cloudy day

I feel the day is all uncertainty
Burning in the moment
Trapped by the desperation
Between how it is and how it ought to be

Foot upon the stair
Shoulder to the wheel
You can't tell yourself not to care
You can't tell yourself how to feel
That's how it is
Another cloudy day




You could be feeling sluggish today, PHILLIP. Your desk could be piled high with papers that need attending to. No matter how much you push yourself, it still could be difficult to get everything done. Try to be realistic and just focus on the tasks that need to be finished today. Other, less essential things, you might want to leave for tomorrow. Don't be mad at yourself for not completing everything, as things will be moving along slower than expected.

Yesterday was another day of sweeping amps at work, nothing really eventful other than a car hit a pole and I was sent to check it out. I went to the area where it was reported, saw fire and rescue vehicles and a car next to a pole, so I asked if this was the one (setting myself up for a here's your sign), but the firefighter said that this was a new one and that the one that was reported was a bit further down the road. I finally find it and turn it in as being ok with none of our lines on it, then go back to sweep.

I'm trying to work out the logistics of finally getting to Merlefest next year. Tony Rice performing with AKUS looks like something I can't miss.
