Kind of a lengthy

I headed to the entertainment center of the Tri-state yesterday, yep, Columbus OH! The first annual Bluegrass Fair was held this weekend, I headed up early Saturday morning, stopping at the Bob Evans in Waverly OH for a "Border Scramble" Omlette (tasty, but not as good as the Southwestern Chicken one). Halfway up the rain hit and I kept thinking "Crap, this is going to be rained out!", I drove into the parking lot of the fairgrounds, following the Lonesome River Band's tourbus in. It turned out that the festival was held indoors. My first lucky break of the weekend.

The Lonesome River Band started off the festivities, They played for about an hour, then they hung out around the merchandise stand until it was time for them to leave, they were playing a show in Greenup KY later that day.

David Parmley and Continental Divide were next on the slate. It was my first time seeing them play,David Parmley has one of the most incredible voices I've heard. He also managed to sing while replacing a string on his guitar, quite an accomplishment.

I went out to the blazer for a quick nap and then it was back inside for the comic relief, provided by Grand Ole Opry member Mike Snider. He was also a former cast member of Hee Haw. Aside from being a hysterical comedian, he was a talented Banjo/Mandolin player with a great band.

Up next was the Peter Rowan. He performed without a backing band for about 45 minutes, for his last song Vassar Clements came out and jammed with him, then Peter Rowan took a seat across the aisle from where I was. This comes into play later.

Former Newgrass Revival Singer/Bassist John Cowan was up next, with a band featuring Pat Flynn and the legendary fiddler Vassar Clements. The performed an incredible cover of Cream's "White Room", along with the New Grass Revival Classic "Calling Baton Rouge".

J.D. Crowe and the New South were up next. Their set included a cover of the Merle Haggard song "In the next life", and their classic "The Old Home Place".

The Tony Rice Unit was up next! YEAH!!! They played a few instrumentals before Tony started "noodling" and then they played "Wayfaring Stranger", unfortunately Tony hasn't recovered his voice, but he can still play quite well. Vassar Clements joined them next for "Salt Creek", and then "In the Summertime", Peter Rowan and JD Crowe joined in for "MuleSkinner Blues" and "The First Whippoorwill".

I mentioned earlier about Peter Rowan sitting across the aisle from me, but I didn't have a pen, in between bands I found a pen and after Tony Rice's set, I got him to sign it. First the pen didn't work, and then I tried to get it working, and dropped it. I picked it up, got it working and Mr. Rowan signed my ticket stub.

After seeing Rice, Rowan, Clements, and Crowe on stage, I caught part of Patty Loveless's set and decided If I wanted to have something decent for dinner I'd better go. I went to the Radisson, and walked across the street to Dalt's. Pretty good food at decent prices, I had French Onion Soup, and an order of Fish and Chips.

It was back to the Hotel, and since the channel that was showing the race wasn't one of the channels the hotel got, it was off to bed. The next morning I found "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" on Bravo. Johnny Depp playing Hunter S. Thompson. Classic!

I took a shower, and was really suprised, exfoliating bath soap, Green Tea Shampoo, and Lavendar Chamomile Conditioner! woohoo!

So exfoliated and smelling like Lavendar/Chamomile, I hit the road back to the Ranch.

I stopped off at the Golden Corral at Chilicothe Ohio, It wasn't as good as the one here, the breakfast Buffet didn't have as much on it.

That's all for this adventure, Next weekend is Jimmy Buffett! Woohooo
