Feb. 27th, 2007 09:11 pmfor the first time in weeks I opened my guitar case to work on the material Robin gave me before his tour. "Little Rock Getaway" wasn't as tricky as I remember it to bed, but my calluses are gone. I had to use a practice technique I read in an interview with classical guitarist Elliot Fisk about working on complicated passages, breaking it into groups of four notes and gradually stringing everything into one passage.
I'm in a Robert Earl groove this evening, thanks to hearing a hohum version of "The Road Goes On Forever" today. It wasn't quite as bad as Montgomery Gentry's version of "Merry Christmas from the family" (They changed the verse from getting tampons to getting pampers, C'mon. WTF is that all about? That's what makes the song!) In other modern "country" news, Toby Keith has a song about a high maintenance woman not wanting a maintenance man, for fans of Tim Wilson it should sound familiar. Mr. Wilson recorded a song a few years ago titled "A High Maintenance Woman (don't want no maintenance man)", they are two totally different songs, but I just checked and Tim Wilson and Danny Simpson are credited as cowriters, so that means that Tim Wilson will be getting some money. He's got illegal aliens to hire to work on his house, because "white guy damn electrician is covered up".
I found these on youtube, James Gregory,
that's all for now
