What a day what a day...
Jul. 15th, 2004 05:38 pmThe first call I had today was an internet problem, I swapped out the modem, but there was a conflict with the USB port, so I had to install an Ethernet card. It didn't work so after trying everything I knew to try, I decided it was out of my territory and made arrangements for the ISP tech to check out.
At the next call, I was checking signal levels when my meter's battery died, I tried charging it, and the power pack had crapped out on me, so I get on the radio and someone in the area had a meter that wasn't being used, so I get it and run back through the distribution. I find the problem, but don't have a tool to splice that styled of line (I didn't even know there was still any of it in use), so I managed to rig it up with House hold wire and got it running, the customer was afraid that it would get torn down or cut by a mower, so he asked if I could put it back the way it was, but after 4 hours of work I wasn't going to.! I put the lines up in the trees to keep it out of harms way until I can scrounge up a .500 K3 coring tool.
I helped one of the installers with his last job, fueled up my truck and took lunch,, that put me right at Quitting time, so I checked email, checked in with
sharkbait ( I'll use my power and influence to try to get good Tom Jones Tickets for April) , got decontaminated ( some of the area I was working in today was very suspiciously wet and funky), and had dinner.
I'm hooked on "Reuban Wraps" from the South Beach diet cookbook. The only problem I have is cabbage leaves are kinda hard to work with, but I think this evening I stumbled on the right method, I kinda rolled the leaf up like a taco shell. Pretty tasty with some Pastrami and Hebrew National Kraut.
I need to mow the grass, but with the way my luck has been today, I'm not going anywhere near anything with spinning blades!
